Lake Blaine Wedding Photographer, Caroline & Evan’s Backyard nuptials

From our very first video call when Caroline and Evan were choosing a photographer, it seemed to be fated that I would photograph their wedding. I was wearing a shirt with a penguin on it in that Zoom call, and Caroline immediately commented on it. I soon discovered that she studies penguins, and her specialty is the very same penguin you'll see in the upper left of this website!

As amazingly coincidental as that is, that isn't the sole reason I was their wedding photographer. We hit it off from that very first conversation and continued to over coffee a few months before the wedding which took place at Evan's parent's house near Lake Blaine. And it was just down the literal street from where Evan had grown up. On top of that personal touch, they brewed the beer for the occasion, the food was a group effort prepared by family and following a recipe from Caroline's grandmother, and there was a bird theme throughout given that they both study birds for a living!

Ginjer & Matt’s Backyard, DIY Somers, Montana Wedding

Ginjer and Matt's largely Do-it-Yourself style wedding—with help from the wonderful Amy Deering—was another wedding very much infused with the couples' personalities in every way. Ginjer is a longtime competitive sailor, Matt's a cowboy. Thus the theme "Boats & Boots" was born and everything extended from that. The ceremony itself was held at the North Flathead Yacht Club, followed by everyone adjourning to a friend's property just a short hop-skip-and-a-jump from the lake. But not without a stop at Del's along the way for the couple and me.

Kalispell Wedding Photographer, Kelly & Adam

This was wedding number three for Kelly and Adam, and boy were they ready to celebrate. Ironically, it was the first wedding they actually began planning, but then things began to happen. Little things, like global pandemics! So they first ended up with a civil ceremony at a courthouse in California. Then came the reception in Taiwan so some of Kelly's family that wouldn't be traveling to the U.S. for the festivities could share in the joy. Then—finally!—came the wedding and reception at Adam's dad's house here in the Flathead Valley. It was a fun and much-needed celebration—as with so many weddings originally planned for 2020—after postponements and uncertainty.

Austin Backyard Wedding Photographer, Kristin & Bill

This particular wedding was a really special thing for me. The groom and I go way back, almost two-thirds of my life back in fact. When they approached me to document their intimate, backyard wedding how could I say no?

After the ceremony at their residence, we moved to Olive & June for a cocktail hour and dinner reception with some amazing food. And not even the sudden, torrential, almost apocalyptic rain could dampen the spirits of this couple. Congratulations Kristin and Bill!
